We’re looking for an Associate HR Generalist to support our dynamic team at our LeMars plant in LeMars, IA – a facility that produces fluid milk, cultured products, and ice cream. In this role, you’ll work closely with the HR Manager to help drive key HR programs, support employee initiatives, and foster a positive workplace culture. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the full-cycle recruitment process for non-exempt positions.
  • Coordinate sessions and serve as a facilitator of the onboarding activities for direct hire and temporary employees, to include processing of new hire paperwork, tax documents, I-9 and E-Verify.
  • Foster strong relationships with employees on the plant floor to promote engagement, enhance communication, and build a culture of excellence.
  • Process payroll for employees. Understand and apply wage and labor laws to payroll. Maintain payroll records and respond to payroll-related inquiries.
  • Provide employee records and administrative support. Process employee status change transactions.
  • Assist in preparing the required EEO/AAP reporting documents. Generate scheduled and ad-hoc HR reports.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate information on benefits enrollment, assist in coordinating onsite wellness initiatives, and field employee benefits questions. Administer required paperwork and coordinate FMLA and STD programs.
  • Work with employees on LOA processes and procedures, track leaves and return-to-work dates, and communicate leave of absence status to managers as requested.
  • Assist with employee communications regarding human resources programs and employee announcements to ensure consistent messaging to the organization; help to ensure electronic communication boards are updated as needed with local and corporate information.
  • Provide information and resources to managers and employees regarding human resources policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance and support with company guidelines, employment law, and company culture. Continue to learn and apply understanding of key legal precedents, policies, and practices to protect the interest of DFA and our employees
  • Perform learning management system (DairyU) administration, including but not limited to managing HRIS data uploads, record keeping, training attendance, course assignments, tracking/completion, running reports for eligibility, and completion and ad hoc reports as needed for management assessments.
  • Maintain proper filing and record-keeping of non-electronic training events.
  • Process HR related invoices as appropriate (drug screens, background checks, employment agencies, etc.).
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality related to organizational changes and other sensitive information related to HR job responsibilities.
  • May participate in special projects in the areas of performance management, onboarding, compensation, and training and development.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline is required. (HR certifications may be required during the course of employment).
  • 1-2 years of Human Resources experience, will consider internships.
  • Experience with HR Information Systems (ADP is a plus).Must have intermediate to advanced proficiency with the MS Office Suite.
  • Handle sensitive employee information with discretion and ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
  • Effectively manage multiple HR tasks, documents, and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work closely with plant operations, leadership at the plant and the home office to support HR initiatives and drive a positive workplace culture.
