Manager - Electrical Systems - Facilities
The Manager assists in the development, implementation and administration of programs to maintain the mechanical, electrical and plumbing of the physical plant, grounds and equipment at specified NYP sites. Through effective and efficient utilization of personnel and material, manages, coordinates and oversees all staff and activities at specified locations. Coordinates, manages and oversees all electrical activities to ensure effective installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment and services in compliance with established codes, standards, and procedures. Establishes work priorities, coordinates job schedules with shop Supervisors, and oversees activities to ensure successful work completion. Conducts regular on-site inspections to ensure implementation and maintenance of prescribed work standards, coordinates inter-shop activities to ensure smooth and efficient job completion. Manages multiple service vendors selected to maintain and repair various electrical/mechanical systems including main campus elevators; fire alarm system; high and medium voltage electrical systems; standby emergency generators; pneumatic tube carrier systems; patient nurse call; uninterruptable power systems; etc. Holds a Special Electricians License, assumes responsibility for personally signing applications for permits, and shall have the authority to make final determinations and full responsibility for the manner in which the work is done at specified NYP Hospitals. Meets with project teams on specified campuses to review electrical drawings to assure all work meets code and conducted in a manner that is best for the hospital. Schedules appointments for electrical inspections; meets with inspector to receive final work approval in accordance with the NYC electrical code. Coordinates established maintenance and testing practices in accordance with all local and federal regulatory agencies. Maintains and manages required documentation to present upon request. Responds to emergency calls for floods, fires etc., coordinates emergency activities, and contacts appropriate others. Conducts tests and shutdowns and maintains appropriate documentation. Oversees major emergency repairs for MEP systems. Directs plant personnel as required. Be available via cell phone for emergency calls on a 24/7 basis. Designs and implements appropriate quality control and preventive maintenance programs and conducts follow up to ensure effectiveness. Investigates performance job-related problems to determine causes and takes corrective or preventive action. Implements and maintains safety standards to ensure maximum protection for patients, visitors and employees. Supervises and oversees management of shop personnel to ensure effective operations. Provides work direction, assigns work, answers related job questions, oversees on-the-job training, completes performance evaluations and takes appropriate personnel actions for staff. Provides training to shop personnel on new and updated procedures and technology. Interprets, implements/communicates Hospital personnel and departmental policies and procedures.
This role will have oversite over the following NYP Sites: Weill Cornel Medical Center, Lowe Manhattan Hospital, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, and the Allen Hospital.
This is a full time position locate at NewYork- Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
